Dec 2, NEW DELHI, INDIA (TIMES OF INDIA) — Rajya Sabha members on Friday expressed serious concern on the desecration of a Hindu shrine in Kazakhstan and demanded that the matter be immediately taken up by the government with its Kazak counterpart.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Congress member Santosh Bagrodia said the Kazakh government had asked its police to demolish houses inside the temple complex without listening to the pleas of Hindus living there for years.

Bagrodia said the Hindu families were out in the open in the winter and one of the sufferers has come to India to highlight their plight.

BJP member Sushma Swaraj supported the demand for India taking up the matter and lodging a protest against targeting the ISKCON temple.

A Kazakh government representative had told an ISKCON follower that Hindus had no place in that country, she said.
