Undergrads usher New Year with Harinam in Balakong

Jan 1, BALAKONG, MALAYSIA (TUE) — VOICE of Uni team with full enthusiasm, were on their toe’s to start the year 2008 with Harinam sankirtana along with palanquin procession of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai at Taman Cheras Jaya, Balakong. The sweet name of the lord ushered the year with transcendental sound vibration.
As planned earlier, the VOICE of Uni team comprising of 20 core members, gathered at Dr. Srivas’s residence to prepare prasadam for the event. The cooking team was headed by Kamalavati dd and it was a fun filled moment where everyone joined hands together in the loving service of the Lord. Some core members helped Balamba mataji with the palanquin decoration. We truly felt all of us as one family, a Krishna Conscious family that was blessed by Srila Prabhupada.
About 7pm, palanquin procession started with heavy kirtan graced by the lordships of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai. The kirtan was marvelous and everyone could feel the sweet transcendental sound of the holy name penetrating the hearts of helpless Jiva’s who are struggling in the material world. The special effect of the kirtan was due His Grace Rasika Murari dasa from Ampang who graced this event by his presence. Rasika Murari dasa lead and ended the kirtan with extraordinary power, energy and vibration.
About 120 people from Taman Cheras Jaya graced the occasion. About 20 homes welcomed their lordships with simple offerings. Their homes were decorated with kolam and ghee lamps
to welcome their lordships. Most homes took the initiative to prepare some prasadam and drinks for devotees participating in the harinam.
Once the palanquin procession was over, prasadam was offered to Sri Sri Gaura Nitai. While offering was going on, His Grace Nama Caitanya dasa gave a short spiritual discourse. This magnificent spiritual event ended by serving sumptuous prasadam to all that graced this occasion.
